The newly built Van Duc Vietnamese Buddhist Temple on Oak Street in Biloxi was to be consecrated the day Hurricane Katrina hit Biloxi. Although greatly damaged, it is currently being used as a distribution center. They are helping the large Vietnamese population in the area that has been devastated.
Help is URGENTLY needed: tents for temporary shelter, camping showers, trailers, culturally-known foods such as Jasmine rice, and Vietnamese/English speakers to provide liaison with the government and relief systems such as FEMA.
If you can help, call Cindy of People First at 720-810-7006 for details and directions.
