I just received this plea: Recently I explored the Common Ground web site. www.commongroundrelief.org/They are looking for volunteers of all kinds, but particularly construction workers who could teach their skills to residents of New Orleans who want to repair their damaged homes. They also need cleaning supplies. Now I am looking into raising enough money to purchase and ship a skid of bleach to them. I'm not sure how much this would cost, but probably about $500. Or, perhaps some institution or cleaning supply wholesaler would be willing to donate it. So, I am wondering if you would be able to go online and find a supplier near New Orleans--a cleaning or restaurant supply business that would deliver the bleach to the Common Ground warehouse in Algiers at 331 Atlantic Ave, and get a quote from them. Then get back to me. Thanks Lester Dore How about it? Can anyone donate some bleach to Common Ground? kiwicki@yahoo.com

If you need supplies, please go to: Many places offer free supplies in the Katrina impacted areas. See: www.reliefdatabase.orgChoose "The Database" Choose "items being tracked" Scroll down to see who has a specific item listed as "available". Choose "Availability/Needs" Sort the list by choosing (in the gray bar at the top of the table), choose "avail". This will sort the list by "available" items. Sort the list by date by choosing (in the gray bar at the top of the table), choose "update". This will sort the list by date...as in the list will have the most current updates for "available" items. Remember, this database isn't perfect. Call the place (click on the facility name) and ask them nicely if they still have the item available...and/or ask to be put on the list for next time it comes in. Remember. Not all facilities serve all areas. Be sure to see if they serve your area. Please...Let us know if you find errors in the dbase...

Another place to search for resources might be the damaged food store distrubution area, places that sell to these bent and dent can stores, that sell damaged supplies. I know they buy those by pallets...
