Volunteers here in Biloxi are getting desperate. There is a CRITICAL need for psychiatrists, psychologists, etc to come down and set up a clinic/shelter for the psychologically impaired to receive psych care, meds and shelter.
Currently, those with mental health problems overwhelmed by the devastation around them are being put out into the street because the shelters have no way to care for them. They can't hold them due to their erratic behavior. These people need better care.
People First has been established in the Biloxi area and is now being recognized as a viable rescue coordination group aiding the poor, the elderly and the disabled. They are sending out this plea for help to the mental health community.
